Gastric Bypass beats lap band
According to a recent article in the Bloomberg news, gastric bypass, which makes the stomach smaller and reduces the amount of food processed by the small intestine causes fewer complications and results in more weight than the lap band procedure. The American Society of Bariatric Surgery, there will be an estimated 177,600 weight loss operations performed this year. Gastric banding has an advantage over bypass in that it requires shorter operations and hospital stays, but the downside is that the weight loss is less that of a gastric bypass.
Considering how costly both of these operations are in the US, someone who is potentially looking to lose weight by either gastric banding or a bypass (Roux-en-Y) can take advantage of lower cost by travelling to India. Leading, private hospital offer these procedures at 1/3 to 1/2 the cost in the US and Europe. Contact Global Surgical Soultions today to find out how you can take advantage of this cost savings.
